Bible Verse for Parenting Teenagers and a Blended Family
When our children exit the nest, fear and anxiety can set in for usa as parents. It did for me! Somehow when they were home, I felt that I had some control. (Every bit if!) Only when they left home, any semblance of any control I fifty-fifty thought I had was gone. And I became fearful. Fearful for their physical safety, fearful about their ability to make wise choices, and nearly of all, fear that they wouldn't stay faithful to the Lord.
I don't know about you, simply personally, I discover that my fright is rooted in a lack of faith, and I know from Romans 10:17 that "…organized religion comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God" (NKJV). My fears dissipate when I spend fourth dimension in the Word, and when I pray actual Bible verses for my developed children. I love the idea of praying Scripture for our children (or anyone, for that matter) considering we know without a dubiety that nosotros are adjustment our prayers with the will of God for them. Here are the six passages I come up back to again and again every bit I pray for my adult children.
1. Ephesians 1:17-19
Equally a female parent, I desire to pray that the Lord would requite my children the Spirit of wisdom and revelation of him, that the eyes of their hearts would be opened and so that they will know and cherish the hope to which he has called them; the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints (God's people); and what is the immeasurable greatness of his ability in their lives, in accordance with the working of his mighty strength.
2. Colossians ane:9-12
I like this model of prayer from Paul! He prays specifically that those in the church at Colossae would be filled with the knowledge of the Lord's volition in all spiritual wisdom and agreement. Why does he pray this? So that they will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, please him in all things, bearing fruit in every good work, and growing in their cognition of him. He also prays that they would exist strengthened with all power, for endurance, patience (with joy!). Finally, he prays that they would give cheers to the Lord, who was the 1 who qualified them to share in the inheritance of the saints.
iii. Philippians 4:19
Our kids volition exist needy, and as empty nesters, we can't be at that place to encounter their needs the way we could when they were younger. We have to surrender command. (Not that we had it in the get-go place!) Nosotros take to give them over fully to the Lord. I want my kids to think that my God will supply every need of theirs according to his riches in celebrity in Christ Jesus.
4. Micah 6:eight
This is our family poetry. We want our children – no matter what their historic period – to remember that the Lord has told us what is good and what He requires of us: to exist just, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with our God.
five. Proverbs four:23
It seems like a gross understatement to say that this globe is a challenging place to be! I desire my kids to baby-sit their hearts diligently. Everything we do and say flows out of our hearts. (See Luke half dozen:45 and Proverbs 27:19)
half-dozen. Hebrews ten:24
I desire my kids to be leaders, pointing others to religion. So I pray that (through their words and their case) they would encourage others to love and practiced deeds.
I renewed my commitment to pray faithfully for my kids this yr. What sparked information technology was when a friend of mine told me that since her kids had left home, her weapon of choice in their lives had become prayer. What she meant was that in the absenteeism of her physical presence with her children (and thus the reduced ability to counsel and guide them), she had fully committed herself to support and love them through the power of prayer (Ephesians 6:18).
