I made this before and this fourth dimension I made a couple changes. I added 1/2 cup of water to the stuffing mixture considering final time it was too dry. I besides bought three pounds of mushrooms (just simply used stems from two pounds of the mushrooms). It turned out to be the perfect amount of stuffing! I will definitately exist making this once again. My friends in one case again raved over this recipe.
05/21/2002
I concord that it lacked a petty "zip." Next fourth dimension I will utilise more cheese and sausage instead of ground beef.
06/12/2002
took a little while to prepare, but was delicious...i recommend calculation a niggling water, because they get a little dry
11/14/2002
excellent stuffed mushrooms. I substituted italian flavored sausage for beef to give a little extra zing. I used very large stuffing mushrooms, and so I added a piddling water to the casserole while baking to ensure the mushroom was cooked through and not dried out. The cheese and bell peppers actually make this recipe special.
01/12/2003
Yummy! Try cream cheese instead of shredded cheese.
12/26/2002
Great recipe for stuffed mushrooms. I used one-half hot italian sausage and one-half footing beefiness. I ended up having lots of filling left over then we used it as a stuffing for omelette the adjacent morning with great results.
02/14/2002
Simple enough to make. I thought they were very expert. My husband wasn't all that excited 'bout them just his complaint was that I used the behemothic mushroom caps and they were "too much, too large". And so that's really null to practice with the recipe.
04/ten/2002
I dear this recipe! Mmmmmm!! I also made it leaving out the meat and using more mushrooms. Very tasty!
04/01/2002
I actually enjoy a good stuffed mushroom. Peachy base of operations for endless possibilities....Inventiveness can brand this recipe an instant family favorite.
05/13/2002
I used turkey sausage instead of beef. Good recipe. Lots of room for personalization. They did lack a little zing.
02/20/2006
This was a very proficient recipe. I only made i alter and that was to add an egg. It helped bind the ingredients together. Very easy to brand.
07/05/2010
I tried this recipe for a family party and it was the hit of the party!! Effort information technology with ground sausage ( I mixed one original and one hot sausage) and a little parm. cheese for something extra. They are very rich however, one or ii mushrooms for person is about perfect!!
06/x/2011
Great recipe - merely margarine, erm, no! Information technology has to be butter - it's a natural production after all. And whenever you can, utilise fresh herbs instead of dried for more sensational flavors - at stage iii, add them right at the end just before lifting off the heat.
02/xiii/2009
These were actually good correct out of the oven but if you look ANY at all to serve them they get really soggy and gross.
ten/18/2010
I tin can't cook but I could make these!! They are very tasty! They also fit into my gestational diabetes diet and are a great way for me to go more poly peptide in as well! Thank you for sharing this 1!

These were a hit! I used turkey Italian sausage, 1-1/2 C. mozzarella cheese, 1/2 C. asiago cheese, left out the basil since the sausage is spicy, and added 2 T. white wine considering the stuffing seemed rather dry. I subbed 2 T. olive oil for the margarine and sprinkled 1/two C. romano cheese on all final 10 min. of baking. Every bit a previous reviewer suggested, the pack of mushrooms from Costco was only correct to use up all the stuffing. I didn't cook the mushrooms first but had no trouble with them getting soggy from too much liquid. As i reviewer stated, they were a bit like a meatball in a mushroom, but hey, WE LOVE MEATBALLS!
01/05/2002
These were quite proficient, only lacked a little "Zip". Next time I'll add a little hot italian sausauge to the beef stuffing mix.
03/19/2010
I fabricated fabricated these mushrooms because I had a bunch of spare ingredients lying around that I needed to go rid of. While putting everything together, I kept wondering if the mixture would demand salt. I left information technology out because I wanted to follow the recipe exactly and it tasted fine in the end. The prep took just a little over 30 minutes for me.
06/10/2011
Likewise banal and too dry. Volition go back to my italian sausage stuffed mushrooms.
11/07/2002
I made this for my hubby's Role party last year, and they are still talking about it! Smashing Recipe!
10/06/2006
I've fabricated this recipe several times and information technology's always a winner. I make this equally a main course, using the extra large button mushrooms, serve it with a salad and bread sticks, yum, yum!
11/20/2006
I fabricated these for a party we had this past weekend and they were wonderful! I substituted the basis beef for chorizo sausage and then used grated Manchego cheese instead of the cheddar. They were gobbled up in no fourth dimension! This is a great base recipe, it'due south fun to play around with the ingredients a picayune.
05/09/2009
worth all the effort you lot put into them, maybe garnish with some fresh parsley to add a trivial color.
11/30/2001
Groovy recipe. I did even so substitue the hamburger meet with ground sausage and it was slap-up.
12/28/2007
These got many compliments at the xmas party I took them to, only were but a petty strong on the garlic for me. Information technology does make way to much stuffing and I had a hard time wasting it and so I later added an egg to help hold it together for turning it into meatballs and then baked them for spaghetti. Turned out ok i guess for a leftover concoction.
eleven/20/2011
I made this recipe, following the directions precisely. The mix was dry, and there was a lot of mix left over. I should accept added h2o to the mix and used three lbs of mushrooms, but the stems from only two, equally another member suggested.
12/16/2008
This is a keeper. I substituted Italian sausage (hot) for the basis beefiness and omitted the green pepper. Utilize pocket-sized portabella 'shrooms ("Baby Bella") if you tin find them. This makes a lot of stuffing--party size!!!
eleven/23/2001
This is i of the best recipies I've found in a long time. I modified it to exist vegetarian and too for personal tastes (I left out the bell peppers, added onions and twice the garlic and used false sausage(gimme lean) instead of the hamburger) I brought the mushrooms to Thanksgiving dinner, and they disapeared in about two minutes! Everyone raved about them, and were shocked to hear I used fake sausage (none of them are vegetarian and they are ordinarily a little afraid of vegetarian type products and recipies) My friends grandmother fifty-fifty made me promise to send her the recipie! I think the just affair I'd change side by side time is to make at least 5 times as much :-)
01/25/2006
Love! Honey! Dearest this recipe! I use half of the beef, butter instead of marg. Likewise I use swiss cheese. Thank you for this cracking recipe!
07/31/2005
WOW! WOW! WOW! Vegitarians, effort this without meat or with vegie sausage, WOW!
07/04/2011
Made these last night for the married man and I so only madehalf of the recipe. Made exactly every bit directed. Non impressed. They are OK. The Italian sausage gustation was predominate and overpowered the more delicate gustation of the mushroom. May try the left over stuffing ( with a little more bread crumbs, cheese and garlic) in a zucchini.
eleven/07/2001
If you lot like meatballs on a mushroom, this recipe is for you!! At least that'due south what my husband said it tasted like......and i have to agree with him this time.......I dont think i volition be using this recipe ever for "stuffed mushrooms" but if im ever looking for " meatballs on a mushroom"..................

01/29/2007

06/21/2011
added chopped onions and dark-green peppers and extra olives, mixed both mozzerella and abrupt cheddar into the mix and other than that kept all as origanal. BIG hit.
02/nineteen/2006
Really amazing repast! Dissimilar others we have tried, the mushrooms were nice and firm. Too much unused stuffing (2x) will be saved for some other meal.
10/16/2006
Recipe was ok. It had a fleck likewise much ground beefiness in it though. If I made it again I would probibly cut information technology down to i/2 lb of beef and upwards the breadcrumbs to 1/ii cup dry breadcrumbs and 3/iv cup soft breadcrumbs.
07/22/2011
Great recipe as a side or an appetizer! I used lean ground turkey rather than beef and added a little seasoned greek yogurt sauce to serve.

12/06/2004
This was my first attempt at making blimp mushrooms. Very easy to make although I used ane/two pound footing beef and one/two pound sausage. There was quite a bit of the mixture left over so my husband and I made nachos with the remainder of information technology!
04/22/2006
I made this when trying to get rid of some ground beef, and so it didn't make much sense to buy sausage. In stead I threw in some sage, marjoram, thyme and blood-red pepper. It still lacked flavor. The cheese doesn't come across at all. At that place are meliorate stuffed mushroom recipes.
03/29/2005
This is an excellent basic recipe! It definitely needs some zing, like others have posted. I'll make it once again, simply dress up the filling. (In this first try I added a bit of pizza sauce and some shredded mozzarella to the peak. Was great!) Btw, Costco sells a large container of mushrooms that simply happen to exist exactly the amount chosen for in the recipe. I also scraped the gills out to give a fiddling more room for stuffing. I ended up using all the stuffing this style.
11/eleven/2007
Way besides much filling. Kind of bland.
08/22/2005
Very good, nosotros enjoyed them alot. I used beef and pork chorizo to spice it up some. Tons of stuffing left over, I think I'll become purchase some more mushrooms to apply information technology upwardly!
02/02/2004
I'm not a mushroom fan, merely these were great! I prepared them the solar day before, refrigerated overnight and then broiled merely before serving. They disappeared at our Superbowl party!
09/21/2003
sooooooooooo yummy!!!!
x/26/2011
loved them and made them several times already!
09/07/2001
These were absolutely crawly. I made them for a party, and they were the first matter to disappear. The just thing I did differently from the recipe is that I sauted onions forth with the peppers, and I added more cheddar on top. They were dandy. And I fabricated the filling the day earlier, then they were a cinch to pop in the over right before I needed them!
06/26/2011
These are delicious! I made them with giant portobellos and topped with shreded cheddar - the recipe filled near 6.
12/19/2003
Loved these! very flavorful
07/05/2011
Very good filling. I used Italian sausage in place of the basis beef. It made more than filling than I could use in the mushrooms. I put it on sliced french bread and heated those in the oven- yum!

12/29/2003
Very good! I went with 1/two-1/2 beef/hot Italian sausage combination. I overstuffed jumbo mushrooms and put a little water equally suggested in the pan. Check the water level to be sure not too much water is released and ascension upwardly to the stuffing. The mushrooms were completely cooked through likewise. They were devoured at Christmas dinner.
06/10/2004
These were OK, but non the style we prefer stuffed mushrooms, weren't thrilled with the addition of beef.
ten/24/2001
I don't know if children would really like this, but i brought these mushrooms to a party and I was the hit!! Everyone only loved them. I didn't put the mushroom stems in with the meat mixture, I thought it would be to much. I got asked for this recipe to many times that nighttime!!

I made these for a political party, and everyone loved them. They were delicious! Give thanks y'all!
03/08/2004
I omitted the pepper, it didn't seem necessary. I too used i/2lb ground beef and 1/ii lb of sugariness sausage. As well added a bit of bacon. I found that if yous put the mushrooms in the oven for vi minutes without the mixture so add the mixture the mushroom itself is cooked more. The mixture make a lot! They were wonderful!
x/28/2001
I likewise add a niggling chopped onion and only added 1/2 to 3/four lb of basis beef. I as well used Mozarella instead of Cheddar (I've never had a stuffed mushroom that didn't use Mozarella). They came out great and got rave reviews at the party for which I made them. Serve them warm and keep them warm though. I'd recommend a warming plate..
03/09/2013
This is the best recipe for stuffed mushrooms EVER! I follow the recipe exactly. Perfection!

01/06/2013
This is a cracking base for and then many things. I used chicken sausage and feta instead of beef and cheddar. There was extra stuffing, so we used it for omelets. Will be making this often.
01/15/2007
Wow! This recipe was amazing!
01/19/2015
Fantabulous appetizer. The but changes I fabricated were: meat - used one third each beefiness, pork, and veal, ruby-red pepper (rather than green), and less breadcrumbs.
03/11/2004
I go along making winners! I made this for dinner using Portabello mushrooms and I also added beef sausage to the mixture. Muah! Very skilful! I volition make this over again and again. Thanks Andie from another Andi aka Andrea.
04/18/2004
This recipe is fabulous! I used both beef and Italian sausage as recommended past many others. I also chose to add together a few shallots and more than butter. They turned out excellent and extremely moist. They only problem was forgetting to inform the vegetarians that they contained meat!
12/30/2012
they were a hit at my dinner party. Just change I made: I used Italian sausage instead of hamburger.
02/23/2017
Amazing! flavorful and moist. And pretty simple. Ate as the entrée and it was super filling. I added 2 Italian sausage links (mashed up with the beefiness), which added a lot of flavor. Also, a little scrap of chopped onion. Information technology made a lot of mixture which I'll utilise the actress for omelets as someone else suggested.
07/13/2020
I appreciated this recipe generally for how to cook the stuffed mushrooms themselves. I made a gluten-costless filling with salary, the mushroom stems, red pepper, a clove of garlic, a modest onion and some oregano from my garden. I sprinkled in some parmesan cheese and colby jack chunks that I placed in each mushroom cap earlier filling. That melted just right, and worked well. Simply the 400 degrees at xx minutes was right on for me and these got rave reviews from my family unit. Thanks for sharing!
07/29/2001
I dear this recipie! Very flavorful, I exercise aggree if you lot employ big mushrooms you migh need to add a fiddling water to keep from drying out, because they take longer in the oven
